Group critical illness provides a lump sum benefit if an employee suffers one of the critical illnesses covered. We can cover a core list of 12 illnesses and a longer list which includes an additional 29 illnesses. Cover for total permanent disability can also be added to either option.
In 2017 we updated our group critical illness product to extend spouse cover to cohabitant partners, cover children from birth and we also made dementia a core illness.

RedArc support service
We know that apart from financial concerns, illness can bring emotional and practical difficulties. At times like these, help from someone who understands the condition, has time to listen and help address concerns can be invaluable.
All our critical illness claimants and their families are offered RedArc’s critical illness service. This includes the provision of a dedicated personal nurse adviser to help and support the employee for as long as they are needed.
The personal nurse adviser is at the heart of the service and provides information, expert advice and long term emotional support. They may also organise a programme of therapy or counselling, free of charge at point of use, if this is appropriate.
The service is highly rated, as 98% of patients recently reported the service as good or excellent.
Group critical illness insurance is also available on a flexible or voluntary benefit basis. This allows employees to choose, within limits, whether they want the benefit and how much they want. Premiums are either paid by the employer, employee or both. In this arrangement, the employer will still decide on the rules of the scheme (how much cover employees can buy), but employees choose the amount of cover they want.
Cover is only available on this basis for employers with an online employee benefits platform to administer the scheme, including the selection of benefits and payment of premiums. Quotes are available for companies with two employees or more, so small employers can setup these schemes too.
